Summary

I was invited to design and teach a graduate-level course on AI for Social Change as part of the Design for Social Innovation (DSI) Master’s program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The course explored how AI and machine learning can be applied to solve systemic social challenges, with a focus on ethics, equity, and responsible design. I taught the class for one semester, and due to its success, I was invited back to teach it again the following year. One of my students’ final projects—a tool that used AI to match immigrants' previous work experience and skills with job opportunities in the U.S.—went on to receive grant funding. Although I ultimately moved to Sweden and couldn’t continue teaching, the course remains one of my most meaningful experiences in bridging advanced technology with social impact.
